Margaret Welkin (March 6 1766 - April 28 1837) was infamous for poisoning 11 members of the town of Dodson, Missouri between September 1836 and April 1837. She went insane after accidentally killing her husband Charles with poisoned mushrooms, beginning to slip the mushrooms into the food supplies of other townspeople. She was eventually caught while attempting to poison the mayor of Dodson, Edmund Cummerbund, but not until 11 people had been poisoned and another, Tom Daniels, had been deemed guilty of the poisonings and lynched.
