Tom Daniels (born 1806) was born in Williamsburg, Virginia and moved to Dodson in 1836. He quickly gained a reputation as a loner, seemingly content to live alone on his farm. He was accused of being the Dodson Murderer, murdering 9 people between September 1837 and March 1838, resulting in his lynching on April 1 1838. The murders continued after his death, posthumously proving his innocence.
